A strange new bug in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has surfaced on the Nintendo Switch 2, causing the entire game map to appear Terastallized—a visual effect typically reserved for individual Pokémon during battle. The glitch has quickly caught the attention of the community, leaving players both confused and amused by the unexpected graphical error.

Reports of the bug began circulating on social media and Reddit, with players sharing screenshots and gameplay clips showing massive sections of Paldea glowing with the crystal-like sheen of Terastallization. Trees, buildings, terrain, and even wild Pokémon in the overworld appear to reflect the light and sparkle in a way that’s not part of the intended design.

The bug appears to be exclusive to players running Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, potentially due to compatibility issues with the upgraded graphics rendering engine. While the issue does not crash the game or impact save files, it dramatically alters the visual experience, creating what some fans are calling a “shiny world” effect.

As of now, Nintendo and Game Freak have not issued an official statement addressing the bug, but players speculate that the issue may stem from how the Switch 2’s enhanced GPU processes Terastallization effects globally instead of locally. Some believe it could be linked to certain lighting settings or improperly handled reflections within the new hardware.

Despite the unintended nature of the glitch, many fans are finding humor in it, with some calling it an “accidental visual upgrade.” However, competitive players and streamers have expressed concern over potential distractions or visual interference during high-stakes gameplay or raid battles.

The Pokémon Company is expected to roll out a patch or hotfix in a future update to resolve the rendering issue. In the meantime, players experiencing the bug can try adjusting in-game display settings or restarting the software to reduce the likelihood of the full-map Terastallization occurring
